The arrival of silicon carbon tech on the smartphone scene has certainly opened up a ton of possibilities in terms of what manufacturers could do with battery hardware, and if there’s anything we’ve learned it’s that Chinese brands often tend to be the first when it comes to implementing considerable upgrades.
That in mind, it’s now rumoured that Xiaomi is working on a smartphone which will feature a 9,000 mAh capacity battery, which will also support 100W charging speeds. Some sources believe that the phone is the still-unannounced Redmi Turbo 5, and there’s even talk of a prototype which comes with an even larger 10,000 mAh capacity, according to Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station.

Up until now, most phones with massive batteries often tend to come from more niche brands with rugged designs, although silicon carbon technology allows for slimmer batteries without compromising on capacity. Going back to Xiaomi’s rumoured prototype, nothing is certain at the moment especially with the brand itself staying silent.
In other recent Xiaomi news, the company has started rolling out its HyperOS 3 update, which comes with Android 16 in addition to a new visual overhaul. It’s also started seeding the update to the POCO F7 Ultra.
