Update 27th December: Game 11 is here, and the recent leaks were correct.
Game 11 is Cassette Beasts, a monster-collecting open-world RPG with more than a hint of Pokemon.
Not your thing? Expect Game 12 in tomorrow.
Update 26th December: “Embark on a puzzle-solving adventure in which you and a partner must prove you can communicate and work together to escape the haunted Castle Rock.” So is the premise behind the 10th giveaway freebie in Epic Games’ Stores Holiday promotion. We Were Here Together is a co-op Escape room-style puzzler that first came out in 2019, and now can be yours, free of charge, until tomorrow’s free game arrives.

For the last few years, I have done good video game journalistic business covering the annual Epic Games Store end-of-year giveaway. For the last few weeks of December into early January, the tradition is now that we get a free game gifted to us by the folks at EGS, and it’s turned into a bit of a competition to work out what is coming next, as each is a mystery, right up until it is announced.
Epic Games Store giveaway 2025
To tie in with The Game Awards, Epic Games Store was handing out copies of the wizard-’em-up Hogwarts Legacy, which, even though it is a couple of years old now, is still a lot of fun and well worth adding to your library. Plus, if you play Fortnite for your sins as well, clocking up a couple of hours of gameplay in old Hoggers will unlock an exclusive back bling for you.
When is the next free game in the Epic Giveaway?
The next game in the giveaway will be with us on December 27 (Saturday), and as yet it remains a mystery since the leak (which you’ll find below) was swiftly debunked following Hogwarts Legacy.
Epic Games Store Giveaway leaked list
Whether you believe leakers do good work or not (spoiler: I don’t like ’em), the chase for internet clout is real. Here’s the leaked list of Epic Games titles which were rumored to be given away…
Hogwarts Legacy – December 11 – Confirmed- Jurassic World: Evolution 2 – December 18 – Incorrect
- Desperados 3 – December 19
- Total War: Warhammer – December 20
- Tropico 5 – December 21
- Chicken Police – Paint it Red! – December 22
- Loop Hero – December 23
- Lego Batman – December 24
- Commander Keen – December 25
- Farming Simulator 2022 – December 26
- Slime Rancher 2 – December 27
- Terraria – December 28
- Detroit: Become Human – December 29
- Mortal Kombat 11 – December 30
- Red Dead Redemption 2 – December 31
That’s a pretty exciting list of giveaways, but it looks as though it’s just flat-out nonsense given the games we’ve had so far.
How to Claim the Epic Games Store’s Free Daily Games
As with the weekly Epic Games Store giveways, claiming one of these freebies is a pretty simple process. Here’s what to do.
- First, create an Epic Games Store account if you’ve not already got one. You can do that on the Epic Games Store website or by downloading the Epic Games Store launcher from the site.
- Now go to the web store or launcher and go down to Free Games.
- Click on the game you want, and you should see a big blue button that says Get. If it says Buy Now, you’re on the wrong page or too late for the giveaway.
- Click on Get, go through with the checkout (you won’t be charged), and the game is yours to keep.
As a reminder, you don’t need to download them right away. Even if you don’t have a PC, it’s worth snagging the games for your account on the chance you get a machine capable of playing them one day.
