EXCLUSIVE: The thespian battalion for Amazon MGM Studios movie about Navy SEAL Mike Thornton continues to enlist, now with Kyle Allen, Brian Duong and Duy Nguyễn starring opposite Alan Ritchson.
As we first told you the pic reps a reteam between Ritchson and War Machine filmmaker Patrick Hughes. Joe Cole, and Hoa Xuande also star. The pic takes place during the final days of the Vietnam War as the Navy SEAL Mike Thornton (Ritchson) leads a desperate last stand after five men are trapped behind enemy lines in North Vietnam. Outnumbered by an army of 150 soldiers, they fight through relentless enemy fire before making a harrowing retreat into the South China Sea. With both a gravely wounded lieutenant and fellow soldier tied to him, Thornton swims for hours through hostile waters to reach safety, an act of valor that earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Producers include Sylvester Stallone and D. Matt Geller for Balboa Productions, Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman (whose The Housemaid is clicking past $200M worldwide) and Alex Young, Ritchson’s AllyCat Entertainment, and Alan Rautbort. The script was penned by Mark Semos, Ritchson, and Jason Hall (American Sniper; Thank You For Your Service).
