The Spider-Verse is expanding again.

“Spider-Punk,” a spinoff of 2023’s animated hit “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” is in early development at Sony Pictures Animation. Daniel Kaluuya, who voiced the character in the comic book sequel, and Ajon Singh are developing and co-writing the feature.

Plot details haven’t been sorted out, but the film will center on the punk-rock version of Spider-Man whose main weapon is his guitar. Kaluuya’s character was introduced in “Across the Spider-Verse” and is expected to return in “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.”
